I am certified in Advanced Plant Identification and Wilderness First Aid and I am currently offering Plant and Mushroom Identification Walks/Foraging Classes. These hikes are a 2 hour event, and take place rain or shine, in and around the broader Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan area. Classes are held once a month at parks, beaches, natural areas, urban settings, farms, or other areas. Participants will learn the botanical identification, nutrition, biological actions, and ethnomedicinal uses of Florida's wild edible plants, lichen, bacteria, and fungi. Each class will encounter a myriad of wild foods and medicines on a fun, educational, and casual meander through the terrain. Each location may offer different flora and fauna and the chance for new discoveries, and participants will have a whole new botanical and/or mycological vocabulary by the end of each walk. All ages are welcome. However, a parent or guardian must accompany any children attending. Children 6 and under are free. Children 7 and older will need a ticket of their own.
